Legal Secretary – Family (Maternity Cover) 

We are a friendly and down-to-earth law firm and are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join our busy family team.

This role is office based at Sevenoaks, Kent.

Working within the family team for an Equity Partner and Associated Solicitor at our Sevenoaks office. Providing day-to-day assistance to our solicitors and assisting the team with day-to-day tasks.

This is a broad and varied role, requiring outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail. Working as part of our administration team, you will provide efficient and effective general administrative support to the firm's solicitors and partners.

Typical duties will include:

  • Digital dictation and copy typing
  • Moving towards a paperless system – scanning and filing correctly on the system within the firm’s protocols
  • Receiving and making calls to clients, other parties, Courts and Barristers
  • Preparing documentation
  • Opening files and ensuring that the matter is dealt with in accordance with the firm’s handbook and departmental manual
  • Ensuring that the schedule and diary is up to date and accurate
  • Working knowledge of files
  • Keeping the files updated by filing current correspondence
  • Booking couriers when necessary
  • Photocopying ID documents and ensuring ID checks are completed
  • Closing and archiving files
  • Liaising with Costs Draftsman
  • Shredding
  • Paginating & copying bundles
  • Acting as a relief receptionist, on a rota, for occasional lunchtime cover

To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate the following attributes:

At least one year of law firm experience in a similar role is essential. Applications without prior law firm experience will regrettably not be considered.

Hours of work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm.

Residential Conveyancing Solicitor 

We are pleased to be offering an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Solicitor to join our well-regarded property team.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate knowledge and experience in the following areas:

  • Sales and Purchases
  • New build transactions
  • Transfers of Equity
  • Mortgage Work
  • Property Law advice
  • Although not a requirement, an element of light commercial property work would also be considered beneficial, including leases, sales and purchases, and financing. 

The role will suit someone with drive, energy and a desire to take the initiative in business development and bringing new work to the firm as well as building on existing clients and relationships. 

Skills and Attributes


  • Newly qualified solicitors up to 10 years’ experience; or 
  • Licenced conveyancers or Legal executives with at least 5 years’ experience of fee earning work.


  • Business developer with a strong drive to the develop the department
  • Commercially astute
  • Adopts a client-centred focus at all times taking responsibility for the level of client service they provide and takes proactive steps to maximise and improve client relationships
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Confident with the ability to interface and develop relationships with a variety of people.
  • Team worker who can use their initiative with a “can do” attitude.

Important Information

Based in Tunbridge Wells/Sevenoaks/Paddock Wood but some remote working possible.  

Salary negotiable, depending on experience
