Every employee is entitled to a statement of terms of employment (contract). There are penalties if these are not provided. It is important contracts are provided as these govern the relationship between employer and employee and will ensure that the relationship runs as smoothly as possible.
We can advise what action you can take if you have not been provided with a contract of employment. We can also advise you of your rights if your employer is seeking to vary your contract of employment.
Discrimination in Employment
An employer can be held responsible for acts of prohibited discrimination on the grounds of a number of protected characteristics including Sex, Race, Disability, Age, Sexual Orientation, Religion and Belief. If you feel you have suffered due to one of these factors then you may be able to claim against your Employer or a co-Employee for any loss suffered, including injury to feelings. We will advise you on the best way to bring such a claim to secure maximum compensation.
If you are facing disciplinary action it is important that you receive advice at the earliest opportunity so you can answer any allegations against you. We can tell you whether your employer is following the correct procedure and assist you during this process. You may be entitled to claim unfair dismissal if there is a breach of procedure.
If you have a complaint at work then this must be dealt with through the correct grievance procedure. If your employer fails to properly deal with your grievance we can advise on what action you can take.
Redundancy / settlement agreements
If you are threatened with redundancy or dismissal we can advise as to your entitlement to redundancy and notice pay and respond quickly to assist with settlement agreements.
In the unfortunate event you are dismissed, discriminated against, or have any other complaint against your employer we can advise how best to bring a claim and achieve a successful outcome, including negotiated settlements, mediation or representation in an Employment tribunal.
