A cohabitation agreement assists the parties to regulate their financial affairs in situations where they wish to start cohabiting. This effectively will formalise the agreement in relation to financial and property affairs also property ownership.

If circumstances should change, for example the couple having children, that may render the cohabitation agreement inappropriate and it may not be upheld by the court.
